Transsexuality

Gender/sexual identity is the expression, awareness and behaviour of a person with respect to the social categories of male or female. When gender/sexual identity is not consistent with a person’s biological sex, it is known as gender dysphoria, or transsexuality.

A transsexual man is a person who feels, thinks and acts like a man, although he has female sexual organs. And a transsexual woman is a person who feels, thinks and acts like a woman although she has male genitalia. It is not necessary for a person to have operated their body or to have taken hormone treatment to change it; as Doctor John Money pointed out, sexual reassignment –social, hormonal, surgical and legal– is only a treatment to make a transsexual person feel better about his or herself.
