Documentary made in homage to the Basque people and in solidarity with the boys and girls of Euskadi directed by the pioneer Nemesio Sobrevila. Opens with views of the Basque Country and a commentary describing the geography and the pacific, proud nature of its residents. The footage shows scenes of war, Basque soldiers, bombings, children being evacuated to France and the UK.

Report on the funeral of the head Euzko Gudarostea chaplain, killed on the Asturian front. The impressive religious ceremony, starting from the headquarters of the National Confederation of Basque Workers’ Solidarity (the ELA/STV trade union) makes its way along Bilbao’s Gran Vía and over Isabel II Bridge, to end in the Arenal neighbourhood. The period was March 1937.

Report on Easter events in Bilbao in April 1937. Flags fly half-mast on several official buildings, including the Office of the Basque President (in the Carlton hotel), continuing with images of open churches where the people of Bilbao attend mass and visit monuments, a traditional Catholic practice at this time of year.

Documentary directed by Nemesio Sobrevila, following the steps of the children’s dance group from Gernika, Elai-Alai, as it leaves to tour several European countries after the bombing.
