Empowerment and sex trade

UK. Direction: Kim Longinotto. Production: Lisa Stevens, Teddy Leifer / Rise Films, Green Acres Films, Vixen Films. Music: Stuart Earl. Edition: Ollie Huddleston. Running time: 97 min

For 25 years, Brenda Myers-Powell was known as “Breezy” and controlled her world, or at least that’s what she though. A world that turned her into a teenage prostitute and drug addict. After an attack by a client, she wakens in hospital and decides to change her life. She is currently a source of hope and a pillar of strength for many women, some very young, who want to find a way out of the spiral of violence, abuse and exploitation that every year makes thousands and thousands of them feel that prostitution is the only way to survive.

New portrayal of an exceptional woman by Kim Longinotto, winner in 2011 of the Festival Award for her work, helmer of titles such as Sisters in Law (2005), Pink Saris (2011) and Salma (2013).
