Mardin, Turkey, 1915. The police arrest all of the Armenian men in the city. Among them is the young blacksmith Nazaret Manoogian, who is separated from his family. Years after having survived the horrors of the genocide, he learns by chance that his two daughters are still alive. Obsessed with the thought of finding them, he sets out on their trail. During his odyssey he meets all sorts of very different people, some good, real angels, and others who are the devil incarnate.
The Turkish-German director Fatih Akin –Head-On (2004), The Edge of Heaven (2007), Soul Kitchen (2009)– looks at the Armenian genocide on the centenary of the date it began, on 24 April 1915.
