Rising from poverty through music

Musical talent crosses all social classes, races and religions. This is why there are many experiences the world over in which music is used to rescue children living in poverty from violence and marginalization.

Whether classical, pop, rap, samba... In music schools and community centers music conveys values such as perseverance, effort, discipline and teamwork. Playing and singing together is a form of coexistence in which the individual contributes to the betterment of the group.

Music primarily affects the personal sphere on an individual level, boosting confidence and self-esteem; in the family sphere, mothers and fathers feel proud to see their sons and daughters sing, dance or play an instrument; and, lastly, the entire community benefits from seeing young people mature and develop beyond the narrow scope of violence.
