In the Poland of August 2016 a conservative government has been in power for twelve months. That year it's Danuta's 50th wedding anniversary and the whole family is preparing for the celebration. Her grandchildren, who are organising the event, are used to their grandmother's rather unorthodox ideas. That includes Ola, the couple's niece, who arrives from Germany. But the moment the girl puts foot in Warsaw she finds herself caught up in all kinds of discussions about the European Union, abortion, migration or propaganda. In the run-up to the celebration, the camera records the family life, where discussions on oat flower, nail varnish and homemade food easily turn to politics, gender issues or Islam.
