Iran today. Maryam, 22 year of age, accidentally kills her husband, Nasser, aged 65. She is sentenced to death. The only person who can save her is Mona, Nasser's daughter. Mona simply has to pardon Maryam live on a television programme before millions of spectators. The reality show takes place during Yalda, the winter solstice celebration. It is the longest night of the year, and for the two women it will be even more drawn-out.
