In 2000, Maite Sánchez established the cattle farm Domiña Abelzaintza Ekolojikoa, on which she and her two sons, Anxo and Indar, and her daughter Garazi, raise Betizu cattle “Europe’s last wild cow”, a race in danger of extinction which lives in semi-captivity, given that it is a small cow with little financial return, essential for clearing mountain areas difficult to access and steep hills but with meat of great culinary value.
