Humor negra is more than just a comedy show. It is a declaration of intent. Anti-racist and Afro-feminist stand-up in which Asaari skilfully uses humour to discuss head-on the intricacies of being a black, migrant woman in Spain. The performer takes her audience a journey forcing them to look in the mirror and address tropes, prejudices and stereotypes, while inviting us to accompany her on her own voyage of deconstruction. To do so, she brings us face-to-face with reality in a dynamic show from start to finish, dealing with such topics as white saviour syndrome, the importance of representation, the "sole black person", interracial couples and the hypersexualisation of black women in collective consciousness. Outspoken and visceral, Asaari Bibang's stand-up gets us to think as we laugh, and to laugh as we think.
