2026.03.27'Palestine 36' to open the 23rd Human Rights Film Festival
The film Palestine 36 (2025), by Palestinian director Annemarie Jacir, winner of the 2019 Festival Award, will have the honour on 23 April at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre of opening the 23rd San Sebastian Human Rights Film Festival, organised by the City Council Human Rights Area and Donostia Kultura.

2026.03.27'Film and Memory' cycle at Human Rights Film Festival
The 23rd San Sebastian Human Rights Film Festival will take place between 23 and 30 April at the Victoria Eugenia, the main setting for the event, and the Teatro Principal, as well as other venues around the city. This year Tabakalera will again be featuring the Film and Memory series, made up of three films analysing the power of images and their importance in recounting History: Mes fantômes arméniens , La noche está marchándose ya and Redlight to Limelight.

As every year, the festival will be addressing a range of topics and stories, including among many others the role of women in religion, the climate emergency in Bangladesh as an example of what is happening in many other regions of the world, the feminisation of precarious working conditions in the textile industry, in this case in Eastern Europe.

As in previous years, the photograph featured in the official poster for the 23rd San Sebastian Human Rights Film Festival, to be held between 23 and 30 April 2026 at the Victoria Eugenia and Principal theatres, is the work of Emovere (Jotta Zubiría & Uxue Montero). The poster itself was designed by the Ytantos studio.
