The coming together of different cultures in a same area sometimes causes a whole series of conflicts translating into xenophobic attitudes and violation of the human rights of the most vulnerable groups.
The growing phenomenon of massive migratory movements shows us that cultural, religious, linguistic and ethnic diversity is a reality with which we have to live. We must therefore approach this plurality with an integrating attitude in the effort to enhance the wellbeing of all people.
Contrary to the temptation to impose themselves felt by the dominating cultures with their greater political and economic power than those of the minorities, multiculturalism and pluralism strive to achieve consideration of the right to be different as an opportunity for exchange and improved community wealth, and to secure the recognition of equal rights and obligations for all human beings.
