La caja de Pandora

Illness, dependency and how this affects families

La caja de Pandora

Two brothers and a sister living in Istanbul lead very different lives, quite separate from each other. One day they receive a call letting them know that their mother has disappeared in her home village, a small place in the mountains close to the Black Sea where she lived alone. The three go off together to look for her. The trip will bring to light their problems and tensions, as if bringing them together has opened a small Pandora’s box. When their mother reappears, she is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s... Concha de Oro at the last San Sebastian Film Festival with an additional prize for Tsilla Chelton’s extraordinary performance, Pandora’s Box, fourth film by this director, relates the degeneration process caused by the illness and how it affects the people around the patient.
