Homosexuality and social acceptance

One of the obstacles faced by people whose sexual orientation is not the same as the majority is the fear of prejudices and rejection from their families and society itself, particularly in the countryside.

Although it is true that over the last few years, acceptance of emotional and sexual same-sex relationships has increased, there is still a long way to go to make progress in global terms. Nowadays homosexuality is still persecuted in 86 countries and punished with the death penalty in eight. Only five countries recognise marriage between two people of the same sex as legal, including Spain.
