“THE PROBLEM” OF THE SAHARAWI PEOPLE
Documentary featuring testimonies and documents gathered over four and a half years in Western Sahara. These are clandestine images given the Moroccan authorities’ prohibition of filming in the area. All physical expressions of Saharawi identity are forbidden: flags, singing, public demonstrations... Unable even to use the name Western Sahara or the word referendum, here everyone refers to their situation as “the problem”.
Men and women hounded and tortured, families of people who have disappeared or are held in prison tell their stories, their hopes and their fears.
